found this on the net at: http://www.heidifletcher.com/tips/turning30.htm

I’ve learned that as I’ve gotten older, I have become more comfortable in my own skin.

I’ve learned that doing the right thing, means doing the right thing by my standards, not someone else’s.

I’ve learned that I don’t have to settle. I have every day of my life to do that… why do it today, or even tomorrow for that matter?

I've learned that you don't have to lie to avoid saying things that are painful. It will just bite you in the ass in the end.

I've accepted that I am capable of doing whatever I put my mind to. And have reaped the rewards and benefits to prove it.

I’ve learned that trust is one of the most significant aspects of any relationship. And to lose it, usually means losing the relationship.

I've learned to accept the fact that I am worthy of significant relationships in my life and I don't have to click to "self destruct" mode when things get intense.

I’ve learned how to compromise without compromising myself in order to make life easier or happier for other people.

I've learned that I don't have to be perfect. As long as I am healthy that shows through and defines me more than anything.

I’ve learned that I am capable of independence.

I’ve learned that just because two people love each other, does not mean they should be together.

I’ve learned that people need you to understand them more than they need you to agree with them.

I’ve learned that being a good friend and have people depend on you is just as comforting as having a good friend. And I’ve learned the importance of my friendships.

I’ve learned that it is okay to ‘grow out’ of a relationship, whether it be love, friendship or business related.

I’ve learned that people you love will hurt you. You need to make peace with it, and move on.

I’ve learned that love does come when you least expect it.

Most of all I've learned to relish my family, my mom and dad and siblings. Those people are invaluable.

"It is not by muscle, speed, or physical dexterity that great things are achieved but by reflection, force of character, and judgment; in these qualities old age is usually not only not poorer, but is even richer."

SYDNEY (AP) - A seven-year-old boy was at the centre of a Parramatta NSW courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him.

The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the England Cricket Team, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.'
Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln' made by 'Ford.'

Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a
warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a
theater.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here's the kicker...

A week before Lincolnwas shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

South Korean government officials said North Korea performed its first-ever nuclear weapons test Monday, the South's Yonhap news agency reported. South Korean officials could not immediately confirm the report. South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun convened an urgent meeting of security advisers over the issue, Yonhap reported.

When I born, I Black,
When I grow up, I Black,
When I go in Sun, I Black,
When I scared, I Black,
When I sick, I Black,
And when I die, I still black..

And you White fella,
When you born, you Pink,
When you grow up, you White,
When you go in Sun, you Red,
When you cold, you Blue,
When you scared, you Yellow,
When you sick, you Green,
And when you die, you Gray..

And you calling me Coloured ??

The Four Ages of Mankind
William Butler Yeats

He with body waged a fight.
But body won; it walks upright.

Then he struggled with the heart.
Innocence and peace depart.

Then he struggled with the mind;
His proud heart he left behind.

Now his wars on God begin;
At the stroke of midnight God shall win.

Wikipedia article of the day Aug. 9th, 2005 @ 11:05 am

Grunge music is an independent-rooted music genre that was inspired by
hardcore punk, thrash metal, and alternative rock.  The genre became
commercially successful in the late 1980s and early 1990s, peaking in
mainstream popularity between 1991 and 1994.  Bands from cities in the
U.S. Pacific Northwest such as Seattle, Washington, Olympia,
Washington, and Portland, Oregon, were responsible for creating grunge
music and later made it popular with mainstream audiences.  The genre
is closely associated with Generation X, due to its popularization
being in tandem with the popularizing of the generation's name.  The
popularity of grunge was one of the first phenomena that distinguished
the popular music of the 1990s from that of the 1980s.

Killer wit the beat, I know killers in the street
Wit the steel that'll make you feel like Chinchilla in the heat

So bring your friends, all of y'all come inside
We got a world premiere right here, now get live!

ok, as of august 2nd i am officially a company director in a not-for-profit organisation.. kinda scary i know.. but hey we all grow up sometime.. i've been delaying it for far too long.

still busying myself with my two jobs and volunteer work. will write more as it comes up... plus news about the two internal interviews i went for. i could be working in the VoIP department by next fortnight if all things go well...

getting geekier and busier as we speak Jul. 27th, 2005 @ 03:40 pm
doing some volunteer work for a not-for-profit organisation called DIRS

they do good work and run a 24/7 manned forum board where people come to talk of their issues and assistance is provided by qualified medical professional on what can be done.. even medications, etc.

so my time is being eaten up by 2 "professional" jobs, a volunteer job, starting up a NFP myself, plus finding time to do yoga, take art classes.. and fit in some crazy trashiness and drunken buffoonery as well.

oh, went and saw Billy Corgan solo gig last night.. was gushing like a little girl.. brought back so many memories of listening to Gish and Siamese Dream.. still like his new stuff too.

more to follow.. including an upcoming Teenage Fanclub gig coming up plus the monster billign for Method Man/Redman/Rahzel/DJ Kool... ooooaaaaahhhhh!

I saw your site last night.  It was great.  Not too many people apart from you and the Delight family that I recognized but I enjoyed the insight into the world that is Retrosexual RatKat.

Thanks for hosting the pix of Ashley.  They were great.

I'm doing alright.  Out of a job, almost out of a visa, so things are a bit rough.  I enrolled in a couple of courses at the community college to keep my mind busy.  I'd rather be a student than a teacher.

Sorry about the hetero condition, it can be hard to shake off :-)

Hope to hear from you soon, mate!
